This year's Association Congregation Award will be presented to Advent Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Metropolitan Synod of the ELCA located at 93rd and Broadway in Manhattan. Advent has been one of LCC's association congregations since 1999. The announcement was made following the decision of the Administrative Board at its January meeting.

Over the years, the congregation at Advent has been exemplary in its partnership with the Counseling Center. Not only does it provide space for one of our satellite counseling sites, it also contributed major funding for our LCC ministries following the 9/11 disaster. Pastor Elise Brown and the leadership at Advent continue to be very supportive of the congregation's involvement with Lutheran Counseling Center.

The award will be presented at LCC's annual Gala on October 13.

For many of LCC's early years, there was one name that was practically synonymous with Lutheran Counseling Center and that name was Ausma Mursch.

As the first full time executive director of the Center, Mrs. Mursch ushered growth and strength into its nascent and fledgling ministries. Her leadership enabled Lutheran Counseling Center to grow substantially and to become known and felt throughout the New York metropolitan region and beyond.

In recognition of her many contributions to the Center, the Administrative Board has named her to be this year's recipient of the Silent Samaritan Award. The presentation will take place at the Annual Gala on October 13.
