Mary Beth Werdel

Mary Beth Werdel, PhD, LMHC, received her doctorate in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University, Maryland and completed a doctoral internship at the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in Washington, D.C.  She is also an Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Fordham University and currently teaches both clinical and research classes for graduate level Pastoral Care and Counseling students. Dr. Werdel’s research focuses on the intersection of spirituality and well-being during times of loss, stress, and trauma. Her most recent research studies focused on spiritual coping resources for parents of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Werdel has written two books, A Primer of Posttraumatic Growth (2012) and As Faith Matures: Beyond the Sunday God (2012).

Her clinical experience, including her work as a bi-lingual Spanish speaking family therapist, focuses on working predominately with individuals, children and families who have experienced significant loss, stress or trauma. She has extensive training in Relationship Enhancement Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy.

Dr. Werdel provides counseling at the LCC site in Bronxville.
